Facebook and Your Career

Facebook and Your Career Center

Adopt the Facebook Platform to better serve students and employers!

You could be using the Facebook Platform to:

  1. Increase student participation
  2. Make it easier for your employers to participate
  3. Increase the number of employers participating
  4. Connect students with employers more effectively
  5. Increase access to your existing programs and resources

Research is showing nearly 90 percent of your students are on Facebook

….And nearly 90 percent of your graduates since 2004 are spending an average of 15 minutes viewing “friends” content each time they visit Facebook.   If you are in the business of serving students and alumni, the Facebook Platform has emerged as a fantastic new marketing channel to reach them.

We’re not talking about creating a Facebook Profile for your career center.  We’re suggesting you use the Facebook Platform to create an API (Application Programming Interface) that will enable you to effortlessly deliver links, video, audio, photos and news to your students

  • Profile Page &
  • NewsFeeds

So what can you do with it?  Whatever you want!  For example you could create an API that would:

  • Automatically notify students about events and activities
  • Inform students of internships, mentoring opportunities
  • Provide a steady stream of career management information
  • Send eBirthday cards and other greetings
  • Your Facebook API could even be integrated with existing databases
  • Notify them of deadlines......

How does it work?

Once you’ve designed and created your application (we’ll give more details at the Webinar) students will be able to add it to their profile page.  When they do, it will automatically deliver news and content to their Profile Page and NewsFeed.   This process also exposes their friends to your events, activities, career tips and information you will share.  Its an automatic effortless way to increase participation.

Why is Facebook offering this opportunity?

Facebook is giving organizations like your career center, the ability to reach into their 200 million user base because they know when you build an API to connect with and engage your students/alumni and employers, you will keep them coming back to Facebook to check their Wall and NewsFeed and not to their competitors sites.  There are even opportunities to monetize your Facebook strategy.

You could use this opportunity to feature employers and charge a sponsorship fee.

You need to take advantage of this!

We’ve spent the last 12 months getting our hands around this concept and have held numerous workshops and discussions with industry professionals to gain a better understanding of how you could use Facebook Platform to create API’s to help you reach your goals.

Join this Webinar to find out how your organization can use the Facebook Platform to also increase:

  • Increase visits to your career center
  • Participation of students and employers
  • Reduce the time and effort you spend in bringing everyone together!

Invest an hour and learn how to create a basic API that will enable you and your team to better serve your students and alumni during these tough economic times.
