How Does Your Admission Website Stack UP?
Study evaluates the good, the bad and the UGLY of admission websites
If you are like most admission professionals, you have invested a great deal of time and money to gain a better understanding on how to increase the number of applications, the quality of the applicants and to reduce the “summer melt” to ensure you meet your quotas.
One area that we tend NOT to give enough attention to—is to our admission websites.
Over the past 6 months we’ve analyzed over 100 admission websites to gain a better understanding of:
- Common elements
- Emerging trends
- Best practices
Plus, we’ve analyzed your prospective students’ use of social media, Web 2.0
and online communities in order to gain a better understanding of what technology
they are using and how it could benefit you.
We’ve summarized this research and have produced:
- An Excel report listing the 100 admission websites with a breakout of which of the 27+ common elements each have (you can compare your website to this)
- White paper “Aligning your Admission Website with your Goals and Your Prospective Students’ Expectations.”
This report summarizes the research we conducted. Besides identifying trends
and common traits, it includes ideas on how to incorporate social media tools to increase communication and applications. It also provides summaries of interviews conducted with admissions professionals who are successfully implementing Internet strategies.
Your Website is one of your most critical recruitment tools. You may not be ready to redesign it but it’s worth taking the time today to evaluate best practices and recommendations where you want to take it.
