Facebook 101 for Parents & Pastors
An Introduction to Facebook for Parents and Pastors!

Would you send your kids out to a new playground without checking it out?

When your kids were young, you watched their every move, got to know their friends and you were involved in just about every aspect of their lives. Today they play in “digital playgrounds” and you know little to nothing about them.

Join us for an online workshop where we’ll show you how to use Facebook, not to spy on your kids, but to give you an understanding of a new technology that is shaping their lives. What you don’t know – you fear. Our goal will be to take the mystery out of Facebook and make you comfortable with it. $5 of each registration fee from your church will support the youth fund.

You should be using Facebook!

Think of Facebook as the world’s largest phone book. Facebook started as a website for college students to network,  but since it opened up to anyone, anywhere in the world,  it’s now approaching 200,000,000 users. What is even more amazing is that the average users are spending 15 minutes on the site EACH time they visit. And - if you think it’s still a site for only youth, you are wrong. The 35 and older age bracket is growing the fastest.

Parents will learn how:

  1. Their kids can protect their information and privacy
  2. To friend their son or daughter but stay out of their “digital” lives
  3. To reach out and find old classmates, family members, church members, business associates and even neighbors
  4. They can update their status, upload photos, videos

Pastors and church staff will learn how:

  1. To communicate to your youth with a simple click of a mouse
  2. Use status updates as opportunities to deliver appropriate biblical messages
  3. To find new members
  4. It’s time you learned how to use Facebook and get into the same playground as your kids and learn how much fun it is to connect with family and friends.

You’ll find it to be a practical tool for you too. We’ll show you applications that will deliver:

  1. Daily devotions
  2. Reminds you when your friends or family members birthdays
  3. Techniques to start a online family tree

Plus you’ll learn how to:

  1. Categorize your friends
  2. Increase the number of people you are connected with
  3. Control your privacy settings
  4. Record video greetings and send to friends
  5. Download and organize your application
  6. Add on applications that deliver news even when you are not on Facebook

If you use email and surf the web, you can handle Facebook!

The bottom line is this!

We’ll take all the mystery and confusion out of Facebook so you can start using it with confidence right away. If you are on Facebook today, you’ll learn tricks and ideas you haven’t thought about yet.

Spend only an hour with us and we’ll give you a jumpstart in connecting and engaging with your friends, past classmates, and developing a new communication channel with your kids.
